NCC Habitat is committed to building quality, affordable homes that anyone would be proud to call home. We use only quality materials and are staffed by talented and skilled individuals in the construction department. Are homes are energy efficient and built with the needs of each family in mind.
Whether building a new home with NCC Habitat or receiving needed renovation services through our Brush With Kindness program, each family will get the best NCC Habitat has to offer in materials, skills, workmanship and design. We are all about helping families have a decent place to live, and the work we do says that.
All of our homes are Energy Star efficient and built to withstand 130 mph sustained winds. It takes about 12 weeks to build a home and they range in size from 1,000 – 1,350 square feet. Homes have 2 bathrooms and are built with 3 to 5 bedrooms.
Every home comes with a new refrigerator and stove, which is donated by Whirlpool, is painted with fresh, donated paint from Valspar and is knitted together by the metal straps donated by Simpson Strong-Tie. Houses do not include furnishings or other appliances such as dishwashers, garbage disposal, or clothes washers/dryer.
NCC Habitat takes pride in utilizing quality materials and employs sound building techniques in the construction of our energy-efficient, affordable homes. House leaders are part of our full-time construction staff and serve as site supervisors on each build site. Each house leader works closely with the homebuyer, volunteers, and sponsors to ensure that homes are built safely and efficiently and that everyone involved enjoys the sense of accomplishment and community participation our mission encourages. Whether building a new Habitat home or renovating an existing one, we work hard to produce quality, attractive homes for working families.
Our service area includes Anna, Celina, Blueridge, Farmersville, Frisco, McKinney, Melissa, Princeton, Prosper, Westminster, and Weston. NCC Habitat has several lots within our service area from which families may select. Homes are built on lots that Habitat currently has available.
Our Brush With Kindness program accepts applications from families in any of these cities in our service area. For more information see our Home Repair Section
We have several skilled and knowledgeable construction staff members who lead the building efforts for NCC Habitat. In addition, the Habitat construction team assigns a House Leader to every home under construction. House leaders are skilled and trained volunteers that oversee the job site throughout construction. Every week of construction, we will have 20 to 40 volunteers sign-up and arrive at the construction site ready to work.
Crew leaders are dedicated and experienced volunteers that are responsible for training and supervising the weekly volunteers that work to complete each home. You might call us a well-oiled machine, much like the ones we use at the job sites weekly!
