Faramarz served in Afghanistan with the U.S. Army & Airforce for 7 years as a translator. He and his family are from Afghanistan, but relocated to the U.S. through military sponsorship when life became too dangerous there for his family. After living in New York for several years, they relocated to McKinney Texas seeking a better economic future. Since moving here, he has found work easy to get, but housing has been nearly impossible for him to afford. He has been working with NCC Habitat, volunteers and Home Sponsors to build his home since July.
Since coming to America, he and his family have happily adapted to American culture and are glad to be here. His children attend McKinney public schools. The family is thrilled to be buying an affordable home through NCC Habitat, establishing strength and stability for their family.
Joining NCC Habitat at the ceremony will be City of McKinney Council Woman Tracy Rath, Home Sponsors and Habitat staff and volunteers. About North Collin County Habitat for Humanity
North Collin County Habitat for Humanity (NCC Habitat) is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles. We put God’s love into action by building homes and communities. We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide. We encourage positive relationships throughout the community by advocating for fair housing policies and by providing training to help families improve their shelter conditions.
NCC Habitat was incorporated in 1992. We enable families throughout northern Collin County (Anna, Celina, Farmersville, Frisco, McKinney, Melissa, Princeton, and Prosper) to achieve the dream of home ownership and dignity. With the help of partnerships, NCC Habitat has built over 100 new homes and repaired over 150 existing homes. Our Affordable Housing Programs provide strength, stability and self-reliance for low to moderate income families. The Home Repair program is called “A Brush With Kindness” where we help low income families with exterior repairs including roof, siding, paint and general clean up. Most of those served through this program (mostly seniors). Internationally, NCC Habitat has built over 40 homes in Mexico, Egypt, Asia Tsunami & Honduras. Habitat also operates a ReStore that is open to the public Tuesday – Saturday. We sell new and gently used building materials and furniture to the public.
