Thrivent Financial renews national Habitat for Humanity partnership in 2015 with $12 million commitment
McKinney, TX (January 27, 2015) – Habitat for Humanity of North Collin County has been awarded $42,000 from Thrivent Financial to support the Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity program, an ongoing multi-year, multi-million dollar partnership between Habitat for Humanity International and Thrivent Financial, which helps create safe, decent, affordable housing across the globe.
Locally, the program will fund the construction of one home in McKinney, TX. This home is being purchased by Tashaunia Jones, a single mother of three. Construction for this home is scheduled to begin this spring.
“It’s always exciting to partner with such a great organization as Habitat for Humanity to make a positive impact in our local community,” said Jason Jupiterwala, a financial representative with Thrivent Financial. “The ability for us to come together and provide a hand up to people in need of affordable housing is a great opportunity for us to live generously and change people’s lives.”
Thrivent Financial is committing $12 million nationally to the 2015 partnership, which will be used to serve families and mobilize volunteers through three programs: Thrivent Builds Homes, Thrivent Builds Worldwide and Thrivent Builds Repairs.
Since the national partnership’s inception in 2005, Thrivent Financial and its members have now committed $213 million and 4.4 million volunteer hours around the world.
“We are extremely grateful to Thrivent Financial and its members for their continued support of Habitat for Humanity,” said Celeste Cox, Executive Director of NCC Habitat. “Because of this generosity, more families will have a safe, affordable place to call home.”
Thrivent Financial remains the largest non-governmental supporter of Habitat for Humanity International.
